Step 1: Choose a Term

GIC's are available in terms from 1 to 5 years. Choose a term that suits your needs for liquidity versus yield. Through GICdirect.com, the GIC centre surveys over 40 institutions across the country everyday to post the best GIC rates right here on our site. The table on the left shows today's best rates, Canada-wide!

Step 2: Complete Our On-line Form

Once you've decided on what type of GIC term you are looking for, you will need to take few minutes to submit a few personal details using our private, secure, electronic application form.

Step 3: Print the On-Line Application Form

Once your form has been submitted, we will produce a printable version of the form, which must be printed, signed and dated, and then submitted to us. We will provide you with information on how to submit this original to us. Ask us about free courier service for GIC amounts over $25,000.

Step 4: GICdirect.com will contact you

Once your form has been submitted, we will determine the absolute best GIC rate available for your selected term. Using the information you have provided, we will arrange with the appropriate financial institution to reserve that GIC rate for you. We will contact you to let you know what financial institution to submit payment to, along with a signed copy of the application form.

Step 5: Submit Payment

To complete the process, you will submit a cheque for payment, along with a signed copy of the application form to the financial institution as directed.
